Umbilical Reeler Mega Load Out
Yesterday our team loaded out 3 open sea umbilical reelers. These are among the biggest reelers HCS has ever built with unit dimensions of H=4.9m, W=4.9m, L=6.9m. Each unit weighs over 21 tonnes and will be capable of spooling 2200m of 111mm diameter umbilical which itself weighs 25 tonnes.
The size and scale of these umbilical reelers required an innovative modular approach in how they were engineered. A removable drum assembly enables a 2-part deployment.
Client delighted the manufacture, test and assembly of the 3 umbilical reelers took only 11 weeks. The last of the 4 reelers will be despatched in February for onward shipment to Brazil.
